Hallmarks of Blood transfusion Reactions



If the patient is awake, the most common symptoms of acute transfusion reactions are pain at site of transfusion, facial facial flushing and back/chest pain. Associated symptoms include fever, respiratory distress, hypotension and tachycardia.

In anesthetized patients, diffuse bleeding and hypotension are the hallmarks.
